I’m delighted to bring something completely different to The Cornish Way. Lillie’s Lookout is a simple cabin that offers all the comforts of home in a compact space that never feels small.
Built for the owner’s granddaughter to live in for a year on her trip over from Australia the cabin is perched above St Just and has all the great views we come to expect from the rugged far west.
I’m sitting on the porch writing this as photographer Jay Marment captures the space. It’s the last day of March and it’s the first hot day of the year. I can see the Scilly Isles, Poldark’s Wheal Leisure and St Just, all surrounded by the beautiful glinting sea.
The cabin has it’s own sweet garden, fenced off from the vast lawn that’s the owner’s garden. There are different seating options and a barbecue too.
Inside the two person space is intimate and inviting. The kitchen is bigger than many I’ve had in homes over the years and has everything you need.
There’s nothing cramped about Lillie’s. The dining table seats four and there are stools at the breakfast bar too. A full sized sofa completes the accommodation, oh, and the all important king sized bed deck.
Across the fields there’s a young donkey braying for joy at the sunshine and the view. Are baby donkeys called foals I wonder? I expect so.
And behind the cabin the wild moors of Carnyorth Common stretch, with Carn Kenidjack, Tregeseal Stone Circle and Warren’s Pool to explore.
The cabin is only ten minutes walk from St Just, and therefore really close to our home at Archavon, but still I’d love to come and spend a week here.
It’s available for short breaks (minimum 3 nights), but you’ll want to stay the week – or more.
And pets? It’s canine heaven!
